The Royal of Romania Family Celebrated Easter in Iasi


Their Majesties King Michael I and Queen Anne and Their Royal Highnesses Princess Margarita and Prince Radu celebrated Easter in Iasi.

On Saturday 18th April, the Royal Family arrived in Iasi, where His Eminence Teofan, Metropolitan Archbishop of Moldova and Bucovina greeted them upon their arrival.

At midnight, The Royal Family attended the Resurrection Service in The Metropolitan Cathedral.

On Sunday, April 19th The Royal Family visited ''Sfintii Trei Ierarhi'' Monastery and ''Sfantul Nicolae Domnesc'' and were given a tour of both historic churches where they viewed the magnificent architecture, icons, and items of exquisite beauty held by these two foundations.

At noon, His Majesty King Michael and Her Majesty Queen Anne, attended the Easter Morning Service in Iasi Metropolitan Cathedral celebrated by His Eminence Teofan, Metropolitan Archbishop of Moldova and Bucovina. 

Afterwards, His Eminence hosted a luncheon, which was attended by Their Majesties and Their Royal Highnesses. Among those present at lunch were His Grace Petru Ghergh, Roman Catholic Bishop of Iasi, Mr. Gheorghe Nichita, the Mayor of Iasi and the Rector of the University of Iasi.

This evening, Their Majesties and Her Royal Highness were invited to the historic Galata Monastery where they were shown around the church and viewed the ancient frescos, accompanied by members of the community who explained the history of the building. The royal party also had the pleasure of seeing the community’s vestment embroidery room and saw some of the intricate and delicate work produced.
